They claim their diagnostic tests show there is no problem. ![]() The Mercedes folks I deal with are nice, but tell me there is nothing wrong that my problems are NORMAL in the Mercedes cars (with the exception of the SUV). I've complained to Mercedes corp via phone and no one returns my call. Heat is temperamental- doesn't always get warm- blows cold air. Car sometimes lunges forward when going from park to drive.Ĩ. Power steering doesn't work in the AM after sitting all night. Transmission fumbles for a gear also slipping in cold weather.ĥ. When you turn the key in the ignition sometimes it does not start recent problem.Ĥ. Car doesn't shift to second in the AM while engine is cold.ģ. Runs rough in the morning, stalls sometimes- most days just barely stalls, shakes terribly when reversing. "I am having issues with my C230 (year 2002) transmission (in addition to A/C, heating, powersteering, stalling).ġ. The engine stalls in the mornings, sometimes racing by itself, then dropping itself down to a normal RPM." Paint is chipping off all over the vehicle. The transmission shifts funny, slips, bangs into gear, consistently chooses the wrong gear, etc. ![]() The vehicle steers to the right since the date of purchase. "I purchased a 2003 C230K brand new and it has been nothing but problems since day one. Many of you all have the exact same problems that I have with my vehicle and I feel for you. The vehicle has been into the shop more than 14 times for some of the same and different problems. My 2002 Mercedes-Benz C230K has had problems before the car even reached 5000 miles. "Welcome to the biggest piece of junk in your life. That was until I found following articles written by actual owners like below just by googling: And the C230 Komp seemed like a good choice. I wanted somthing small, fun to drive, getting fairly good mpg, hatchback, manual trans & luxurious (no ricer!). They dont wear out often and need to be of the Quality commensurate with the engineering in that Engine…which is to say…High Quality.I "was" also interested in early C230 Kompressor model. ![]() Replacing the plugs probably wont hurt you either…when were they last replaced? Use the OEM plug as well…almost surely some form of Bosch Platinum…or other high quality plug…Do not skimp on the type of Spark Plug. If NO codes…you need to see if you have anything in the plug well that would short the coil to ground. If you do have an engine code…it will point to the offending plug/coil combo…after that…just replace whatever one is misfiring. Id check for codes and if there are none…pull a few coils and make sure there is no oil in the plug well…or any other liquid. If one of the coils is failing…you should throw a code, but I have seen many engines NOT throw a code when one of the coils shorts to ground (usually from oil in the plug well from a leaking valve cover gasket) When they short to ground you dont get a code bec technically the coil is firing but that energy is going to ground instead of thru the plug. I believe your engine has coil over plug system…which means No distributor, no spark plug wires…Just coils…over plugs. I would replace the spark plugs and the offending coil. Sounds like one of your ignition coils is beginning to die.
